Pre-suit mediation is a solution that many legal professionals overlook when it comes to their clients’ cases, which prompted the IndyBar ADR Section to host a CLE program on the topic on Oct. 28.
At Ask a Lawyer on Oct. 13, more than 100 IndyBar paralegal and attorney volunteers stepped out of their offices and into sites across Indy to provide meaningful advice and assistance to 596 Hoosiers.

With help from the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, more than 2,500 local school children will gain access to critical conflict resolution skills through an innovative Restorative Justice program spearheaded by Peace Learning Center (PLC). PLC was recently named the recipient of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation’s 2015 Impact Fund grant, which will provide $35,000 in funding to make this essential program possible.

The slate for the 2016 Indianapolis Bar Association Board of Directors is now complete with the appointment of four Vice Presidents and the Counsel to the Board by President-Elect Judge Robyn Moberly of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
Each year, the IndyBar Women and the Law Division presents the Antoinette Dakin Leach Award to recognize the accomplishments of a female attorney in central Indiana. This year’s recipient is Sue Shadley, of Plews Shadley Racher & Braun.
The IndyBar Professionalism Committee has named Magistrate Victoria Ransberger of Marion Superior Court the 2015 recipient of the Silver Gavel Award, while Ruth Johnson of the Marion County Public Defender Agency has been awarded the bar’s Professionalism Award.
The Indianapolis Bar Association has announced the selection of James J. Bell of Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP as the 2018 president of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Bell will serve as the association’s first vice president on the 2016 board of directors and as president-elect in 2017.
