I have often heard it said that having children keeps you young, keeps you in touch with your own childhood and it helps keep your imagination alive. Whoever said that has never met Charlie Bell. Charlie Bell is my 4-year old, and if feeling 136 years old is feeling young, then yes, he makes me feel very, very, young every single day.
The Marion County Court Administrator’s Office has announced the renewal schedule for attorney identification cards to the City-County Building. These cards allow attorneys to bypass the lines waiting to go through security screening and get direct entry without having to be searched.

The Bears on Patrol program has a special meaning to my family and me. On April 23, 2008, the mother of my children was murdered right before their eyes by their biological father while I was on the phone with him. Biologically, the kids are my nieces, but I’ve since taken them in. The legal community came together on October 24, 2018, to support the Indianapolis Bar Foundation’s first Day of Giving, raising more than $18,000. Donations during the Day of Giving were crucial in the foundation’s efforts to fulfill its mission.
As I sat in the Supreme Court of Indiana two weeks ago at the IndyBar’s third-annual Memorial Service, I got to thinking about one of my real friends who we had recently lost. He was my “little brother” James and he had always given it to me straight.

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending another excellent IndyBar CLE program on mediation. The topic was “The Alligator in the Room,” our reptilian brain, which is triggered when we are under stress, causing an emotional, rather than a logical, response.
At the IndyBar, we have hundreds of volunteers who serve our members, promote justice and enhance the legal profession on a daily basis and rarely get a thank you worthy of their efforts. IndyBar will seek to honor at least some of them on Nov. 13.
IndyBar volunteers set up at both the John Boner Neighborhood Center and the Haughville branch of the Indianapolis Public Library to draft wills and advance directives for nearly 20 Indianapolis citizens at no cost.
